Retail Sector Update
July 9, 2010, 11:02 am

Central Retail Sector - 2010 started well with a good level of enquiries for retail units in the city centre.   Haarer Goss let a number of small shops during the first quarter including the former Express & Echo premises at 48 Sidwell Street which is now trading as a traditional sweet shop Kandy King and the former Exeter Model Centre at 39 Sidwell Street which is to be a new concept pasta take-away called Porta Pasta and will open soon following extensive refurbishment works.  Understandably the market slowed in the run up to the election but now we are seeing renewed interest in this sector.

Out of Town Retail - For out of town retailing, Haarer Goss were pleased to secure the letting of the former Fabric Warehouse Premises at Bishops Court Retail Park.  Bishops Court is managed by Haarer Goss on behalf of the current owners.  Toys R Us has its 33,000 sq.ft flagship store on this newly refurbished retail park, which is prominently situated next to Junction 30 of the M5.  Haarer Goss has negotiated the letting of the vacant retail warehouse unit which is to be substantially re-modelled to accommodate two new leisure based retailers who will compliment the existing occupier on site.  The premises will provide two units, one of 10,000 sq.ft and the other 3,800 sq.ft of accommodation. Construction works are due to be completed later this summer with the stores opening their doors to the public for the Christmas trading period.
